What is a Sleepover?
A Sleepover is where your dog stays in the private home of one of our approved dog minders. Your dog will receive all the creature comforts they are accustomed to in their own home including regular walks, sleeping inside, cuddles and lots of human interaction.
-
Who are the minders?
Our minders are animal lovers like you and I. They have been interviewed, assessed and rated on a number of criteria such as, skills and experience, security of their premises and level of care they can provide. They have regular homes in local suburbs with no cages or concrete pens, it’s more typically polished floorboards and a comfortable couch.
-
What does it cost?
The Woofers Sleepover is by far the best value for money. There are no public holiday surcharges and no peak season loading nor additional costs for exercise, providing your own food or bedding. Please note a Sleepover is priced per calendar day, not per night. Click here to view the Pricing
-
How many dogs do minders have at one time?
The Sleepover is very much a one-on-one service, and we prefer not to place multiple dogs from different homes with a minder at the same time. If the minder has a dog of their own, you and your dog will meet them prior to ensure everyone gets along.
-
Do I need to meet the minder first?
Yes. We want to ensure that the Sleepover is right for you, your dog and the minder, so it is important to see the home where your dog will stay and for your dog to meet any other pets that the minder may have.
-
What do I need to provide?
Drop off your dog at the minder’s home with its bed, food, toys, leash and treats. Your dog will need to wear a collar with ID tags, be up-to-date with worming, flea treatments and vaccinations, and it’s always appreciated if they are freshly washed or groomed. Click here for the full Sleepover Checklist. We also recommend giving the minder a filled in Pet Care Instructions form and a Sleepover Inventory form just to make things crystal clear what is required by the minder.
-
Who can I call for support?
Woofers manage all the bookings, enquiries, billing and minder support. We provide full support to each minder, with 24/7 veterinary care, pet ambulance, re-homing options, behaviour consulting and all the phone support that you and the minders may require.
-
Can I extend the sleepover?
Simply call us or the minder directly and make the request. If the Sleepover can’t be extended, we’ll try and find another solution for you. Your invoice will be adjusted accordingly and sent to you on your return.
-
Do I need to pay the minder directly?
No. Woofers pays the minder on your behalf. There is no need to give the minder anything except a sincere thank you.
-
Can I use the same minder next time?
Of course, but as the Sleepover service is quite exclusive, good minders are in high demand so please book well in advance of your leaving dates. School holidays are a busy time and minders may have other dogs interested in the same dates. End of year holidays book out months in advance, so to avoid disappointment, please get in early.
-
When do I pay?
Prior to the Sleepover you will receive a quote outlining the estimated cost of the Sleepover and required to pay an initial matching fee. To reserve the minder, you will need to pay 50% of the total invoice, with the outstanding balance to be paid on your return. If there are any damages or out of pocket expenses incurred by the minder during the Sleepover, we will include these in the final invoice.
-
What happens if something goes wrong during the Sleepover?
In the unlikely event that a dog may fall ill or is injured, minders are instructed to contact us immediately on our 24/7 support service. Woofers has 24hr vet on call. You can elect to be contacted while you are away or nominate a secondary contact person. Each minder also has a list of 24-hour vet clinics and access to our after-hours call-out service. You always remain the owner of your pets and are responsible for any associated costs. Woofers may make any emergency payments required on your behalf, and we’ll add such expenses to your final invoice reimbursement.
-
What if I cancel the Sleepover?
We understand that plans can change. If you are to notify us well in advance (i.e. more than seven working days before the Sleepover commences), a $95 cancellation fee will be deducted, and the remaining deposit may be used as a credit towards another Woofers Sleepover booked within 12 months.
No credit applies if you cancel within seven working days or less before the Sleepover is due to commence.
If the cancellation occurs after accepting the quote and before the matching process is complete, you forfeit the $95 matching fee. -
How much exercise will my dog receive?
Most minders will offer up to two 30 minute walks per day, but you will need to discuss this with the minder when you meet with them.
-
Will my dog be exercised onleash or offleash?
You will need to discuss how you would like your dog to be exercised by your minder. Your dog will always be exercised on a leash unless you sign the Off Leash Waiver agreement.
-
How do I prepare my dog?
Please make sure your dog is fully washed or groomed before the sleepover and also make sure their bedding is freshly cleaned. For a full list of requirements, print off the Sleepover Checklist.
